"Saadu" [Saaju]   aka   Rubiram

The second of four brothers who came from Gujarat, India. He was married to 'Bayban'.

He was known to have a good business sense. He was the mastermind behind selling

off narrower lots of their Dundee properties in order for the family to gain an extra lot.

The "Chans" settled in Novar, Guyana - next to Dundee.

"I know that both great grand-father and great grand-mother are buried in the family burial plot at
Novar. Their graves should still be there as will as our grand mother's and grandfather's. I don't
know where Bayban came from but I do know that they lived in the family house at Novar.

Our  great grandfather had  many children and I don't know how many of them there were.

Our father's name was Mohamed Hanief Chan and his father's name was Sirikissoon Chan.
Sirikissoon had three sisters and I think three or four brothers one of whom was named
Harikissoon. They called another one  "Big Cha-Cha" (don't know his name) Then there
was Bidong (false name). We know he didn't like to be called by this name.

My father's siblings are as follows
Mohamed Saffee Chan  1900 to 1966
Baitul Majeed 1902 - 1982?
Mohamed Hanief Chan 1905 - 1983
Zohora Sankar  ---- to ----
(Was Uncle John's name Yusuf?)
Mohamed Samah Chan 1913 to 1992
Mohamed Hashim Chan 1916  to ----
Shamyun Gafoor  ---- to 2003

Munaf, this is all I can remember. I know that Aunty Lima and Aunty Neesha will fill in the details.
Maybe I have some of it wrong but they will correct me if I am.

Aunty Neesha was married to Uncle Ashraf who was also your  mother's cousin."

Hello Munaf,

As salaam alaikum

I recently came across your wonderful website, dedicated to your families ancestry and their descendants.

I however noticed under the Chan Clan section of your website the names of "Sirikissoon" and his wife
named "Sonia Alison".

I am wondering if you have more information on these said two individuals, especially Sonia Alison. The
reason I ask is that on my maternal side of the family my grandfather Saffie Khan has relatives named of
Chan and Alison in his side of the family.

I would be very grateful to you if you could send me any facts about Sonia Alison and the Chan children
names. Or could forward me to anyone who could be of some help, very little is known of them at this
point for me.

Hope to hear from you very soon.

Khuda Hafiz,

Rayshaad Rahaman
